This is a follow on class from our Intro to Handbuilding and Glazing- Although not a pre-requisite to join in- This is a beginner friendly class for those with a bit of the pottery bug- or just looking for a night out every fortnight. This course is a relaxing way to pick up a few pottery basics. We wont be making anything too serious and will suit beginners looking to make a few more pieces. It is essentially a Clay and Sip that is split over 4 fortnightly classes. We will make a few key pieces and explore some glazing options including underglazing, colouring with slip , decorating with tissue transfers and of course have a go at mixing a few glaze combinations for some interesting pieces. We will make: Mugs/ goblet- slab built and/ or pinch pot Coiled Vase Plate decorated with transfers Plate using Japanese Plates Moulds We will still learn in a relaxing environment similar to the Clay and Sip classes and will listen to a bit of the BeeGees and Stevie Nicks as we learn the gentle and slow process of hand-building with clay. I will guide you through the steps of working with clay and learning some basic skills. We will be working with a dark speckled clay. You will make a few pieces 1.5- 2 hours every fortnight over 8 weeks. ( 4 classes).
