This is a follow on class from our Intro to Handbuilding and Glazing 1 and 2- Although not a pre-requisite to join in- Although we will be spending a bit more time on some more complicated shapes, this would suit a beginner. THIS COURSE WILL RUN AS AN OPEN STUDIO. You will have the choice to follow the teacher through a guided lesson or choose to work on your own pieces or have a go on the wheels. We will explore and perfect our joining skills as we work on some larger pieces. This course is a relaxing way to pick up a few pottery basics. We will make a few key pieces and explore some glazing options, handbuilding techniques, working with coloured clays You will have access to the clay, glazes, underglaze transfers, slip casting. Some key lessons are: Slab Building a large Pitcher Coil building a large moon chip and dip bowl Introduction to slip Casting Introduction to coloured clay. We will still learn in a relaxing environment similar to the Clay and Sip classes and will listen to a bit of the BeeGees and Stevie Nicks as we learn the gentle and slow process of hand-building with clay. I will guide you through the steps of working with clay and learning some basic skills. We will be working with a variety of clays. You will make a few pieces 2 hours every week for 5 weeks. Open Studio rules: You will be given 750grams of clay each week. It is up to you how to use it. We can store it so that if you don’t use it in one week you can use it the next. Firing Fees: All materials and firing fees are included. Excess clay can be purchased for $20 per 750 grams and this will include firing. Pottery Breakage Clay is a fickle medium- I take great care in looking after all students pieces- but the nature of Pottery is that it can break for many reasons. No refunds are provided in the unfortunate event that your pottery breaks or cracks in the kiln. Pottery is a very delicate process. Refunds Please note that by purchasing this ticket you are securing a spot at an event that is usually booked out. I do not refund for cancellations. I will only refund in the event of a Covid Lockdown. If you cannot make it- you are welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend. There are strictly no makeup classes for this course. Please note class dates. However we are hoping for this to run as a weekly course throughout the year where you can come to a variety of dates. Classes run weekly with a week break before the final glazing class.
