What is Kurinuki? Kurinuki is a Japanese technique that starts with a solid block of clay and the piece is made by slowly carving away with some carving tools. This process is timely and therapeutic and we think it’s rather fun! In this workshop we will start with one solid block of clay. We will slowly carve away the interior, then finish our piece by decorating the outside with some foliage or some stamps. Grab your friends and a bottle of wine ( or T2 tea provided) for this relaxing workshop. As we listen to some great tunes as I guide you through the steps of working with ceramics and learning some basic pottery skills to make a sweet little handmade house. Your masterpieces will be left here to dry slowly, be fired in the kiln, glazed in a white glaze. Pick up your house in approximately four weeks Class duration is roughly 2 hours. This will depend on your skill level and speed. I never rush anyone- so take your time and enjoy the process. House size is approximately 8cm x 10cm. What to bring: BYO nibbles and sips. Glasses are provided. Firing Fees: All materials and firing fees are included. Pottery Breakage Clay is a fickle medium- I take great care in looking after all students pieces- but the nature of Pottery is that it can break for many reasons. No refunds are provided In the unfortunate event that your pottery breaks or cracks in the kiln. Pottery is a very delicate process. Refunds Please note that by purchasing this ticket you are securing a spot at an event that is usually booked out. I do not refund for cancellations.
